MICHAEL BAPTISTA, MD

Michael Baptista, MD. was born and raised in Brazil where he attended medical school. After his general surgery training and a fellowship in thoracic surgery, he then spent several years in surgical research at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Dr. Baptista underwent further surgical training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, as well at Rush University in Chicago and finally at the University of Illinois at Chicago.  He successfully completed a laparoscopic / robotic surgical fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Both his general surgery training and fellowship involved extensive training in bariatric surgery and patient management.  Dr. Baptista is a LAP-BAND® certified surgeon.

Dr. Baptista is a very compassionate physician and surgeon. He sees patients as human beings not as "cases," "numbers" or diseases.
