Posted: Jun 06 in Success Stories by adminSingle, sick and sorry was my motto in 2001. I realized that I had to do something about it. In January 2001 my husband left, in April 2001 I had a heart attack and in December 2001 my niece Cassie said she wants to be just like me when she grows up — I finally saw what I looked like in the mirror. I wasn’t overweight as a child. I am a Desert Storm Veteran and with the struggles in 2001 I just ate my way into 502 lbs. I finally started doing something about it.

Posted: Mar 29 in Success Stories by adminMy name is Gabby and I’m 35 years old. I started putting on weight as a teen, by the time I was 19 years old I weighed 290lbs. I struggled with my weight for so many years. I was always the fat friend or the fat sister. I married at 20 and struggled with infertility for 8 years due to my weight. In 2003 I had twin girls and my weight climbed up to 300 lbs. I was able to get down to 260 after having my twins.

Posted: Mar 03 in Success Stories by adminMy impression was that Dr.Cywes was highly competent but was uncomfortable with selling or promoting himself. I think that he vastly undersells his talents or the results of his work. A very positive trait in a great doctor, but not necessarily for somebody who needs to convince nervous doubting surgery candidates that they’re doing the right thing and that he’s the best doctor to help them.

Posted: Feb 08 in Success Stories by adminMy story is very long but I’ll keep it as short as I can. I had been morbidly obese since 1999 and overweight since 1968. I had lost 100 lbs twice, 75 lbs and 50 lbs only to gain it back plus some so I know how to diet.
I went to see Dr. Cywes in June of 2009 weighing 355 lbs to discuss the lap band procedure and if I could benefit from it. After spending 15 minutes with him he explained the procedure but more importantly we talked about life style change and living, I knew I could be successful, Just not how much and for how long.

Posted: Jan 03 in Success Stories by adminI’ve struggled with my weight for almost as long as I can remember. I tried many different diets, and a few attempts at exercise, and while some worked, nothing stuck. I struggle with depression, and the negativity that comes with being obese didn’t help. I had been suicidal, then, upon deciding that wasn’t a choice, I replaced these thoughts with cutting.

Posted: Dec 10 in Weight Loss Tips by adminAlready known for providing more health benefits than just weight loss, a recent study expands the possible advantages of Lap Band surgery to include improved mental health. Laparoscopic gastric banding is less invasive than other forms of weight loss surgery, leading to faster recovery time, minimal scarring, and less chance for post-operative infections. Additionally, Lap Band surgery has positive effects on blood sugar regulation, making it a valuable choice for those with Type 2 diabetes. A band is placed on the stomach to decrease its volume, thus reducing the amount of food that can be consumed.
