Dr. Cywes invites you to attend a free information seminar about treating obesity with bariatric surgery.
Seminar Schedules
When undergoing a surgery as serious as bariatric surgery, patients want to know they are going to be operated on by the best surgeons. They want to put their lives and futures in the hands of competent and trustworthy surgeons and staff, and they need to know that their safety is the center’s top priority. That is why Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) developed the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence program.
The Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence is an application based program that clinics practicing bariatric surgeries attempt to become a member of. In order for their application for membership to be approved, they must meet the high standards of excellence required by SRC. SRC is a non-profit organization and has no ties to any other group or organization. They are an objective review company that establishes the guidelines that centers must meet to become members.
SRC awards the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence membership to facilities, individual surgeons and independent surgical practices. No type of facility is given priority over another and facilities like hospitals with many surgeons can apply separately for each surgeon.
Just had my banding on Tuesday, June 9th. by Dr. Michael Baptista. There is not enough room here to express my feelings of Dr. Baptisia and his staff, so I will condense!!
The words compassionate, professional, sensitive to your needs, patient are just a few of the many things I could say about him. I never once felt apprehensive about having the procedure done. Dr. Baptista made me feel safe thoughout the entire process.
On the office staff......WOW......what a wonderful, lovely, informative group of folks!! Through every office visit they took the time to make you feel like you were the only patient in the building. I never felt rushed at any of my visits. I knew I could call them at any given time and not made to feel I was taking up their time.
So I want to say thank you from my very soul for being with me on this life changing journey I am about to embark on!!

Keri, I am sure that the Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence has a lot to do with the success of patients. My insurance would only pay if my surgery was at a Center of Excellence. This indicates to me that the patient results must be better with these surgeons. I don't think they interview patients as part of the Center of Excellence process. I think they are more interested in quality than bedside manner. You have to rely on blog comments and forums from people that have had surgery to learn about their experience with their surgeon.

Dot, I have to use your condensed version as my same thoughts and emotions towards Dr. Cywes. The office staff-- ditto on them! Dr Cywes performed my Lap band in November 2008. I've appreciated every moment I've had with Dr. Cywes and feel not only has he changed my life, but has saved it. I consider Dr. Cywes bluntness as being the reason I've been successful. Center of Excellence and details such as that were not part of my decision, as I knew of many people who were succesful with Dr. Cywes & Baptista and highly recommended. I'm only sorry I didn't do sooner!

I have to wonder if part of being a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, has anything to do with the success of the patients! One would think that this would count. I also believe that patients should be interviewed about the surgerons and how they treat patients prior to becoming a Center of Excellence.
